The one-line pitch

Don’t command the flies. Tempt them with fruit, disrupt their senses, and grow your team in a six-minute rivalry.

The research story

The project started by exploring fruit-fly connectomes. Its separate sweet-taste neural experiment used a reduced FlyWire v630-derived network of 474 neurons and 23,151 directed connections with a simplified spiking model.

BanaBuzz turns that curiosity about sensing and behavior into a game. Its current controller uses simplified scent differences, obstacle avoidance and search rules. Gameplay does not run the FlyWire connection matrix and is not a complete brain simulation.

Implementation boundaries and original research sources ↗

This is an independently developed game, not a FlyWire product or an endorsement by its researchers. The current game has no ads or in-app purchases. Online play needs a continuous internet connection. Invitation rooms start when the creator has two or four real players; quick matchmaking waits for players in the same mode.
